In the Movie 102 Not Out we have Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of a 102-year-old father Dattatraya Vakharia who wants to send his son who is 75 to an old age home. The son is played by Rishi Kapoor and goes by the name Babulal. The father is doing this for his own selfish motive as he thinks that Babulal’s morose and melancholic outlook towards life will come in his way of breaking the record of becoming the longest living human.
The film is unique and refreshing. Its original and new concept is its strength. The film is about the relationship between aged father and son and how the father motivates his son to enjoy life and have a lust for living.
It is a simple story and the plot doesn’t get to complex as there are only three characters, Dattatraya, Babulal and their man Friday Dhiru played by Jimit Trivedi.
The film does not have picturesque sets as the story doesn’t demand it and the story is based out of Mumbai but most of it takes place within the Vakharia’s house.
Director Umesh Shukla’s film turns its limitations into its strength.
There are no thrilling scenes or jaw-dropping moments or unexpected twist and the movie does not try to be over-clever and is a simple story told beautifully. This is the USP of the film.
‘102 Not Out’ is a family film and best enjoyed with them. The characters are beautifully crafted and the movie portrays the bitter sweet relationships of the characters brilliantly.
This is a kind of movie which will educate you, make you more sensitive and make you cry and be happy at the same time. The film has its emotional moments but it never overdoes the emotional quotient and this plays to its advantage.
This a healthy and happy fill, which entertains and educates. It makes you realize the stark reality of old age and inspires you to live every moment to the fullest.
Go and watch this film and you will start loving your elders and family more and more.
