A massive fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in the new building of the Serum Institute of India, which makes the Covishield Vaccine. The fire broke out in the new under construction building of the institute near Terminal 1 gate. 5 people died in this accident, at the moment the fire has been controlled.

Sadly, our under-installation facility suffered a loss of life and property. Covishield Vaccine is safe!

It is believed that it will not have any effect on the construction of Covishield. The reason for this is that this fire started in the new building, which is under construction. The serum institute has issued a statement that this building is far from the plant with CovidShield.

Relief and rescue operations

According to the information, the building where the fire took place is just a short distance from the place where the Vaccine was built. Fierce smoke was seen in the photographs of the spot. 15 fire personnel reached the spot to control the fire. Local officials, including the police, immediately started relief and rescue operations. However, the entire incident was also monitored by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has tweeted that CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray is in touch with Pune Municipal Commissioner and is taking complete ground updates. He has directed the state machinery to coordinate and ensure that the situation is under control.
