A huge political uproar has been caused nationwide by the Sudipto Sen-directed film, which portrays the terrorist organisation Islamic State recruiting girls.

Jitendra Awhad, the head of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), on Tuesday criticised "The Kerala Story" producers, even suggesting that the producer be publicly hanged.

A predicted 32,000 people made up the official three-person total, the NCP leader said that the individual who created this fake film "should be hanged in public."

A huge political uproar has been caused nationwide by the Sudipto Sen-directed film, which portrays the terrorist organisation Islamic State recruiting girls.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has backed the movie, and the saffron party-ruled states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have declared the movie tax-free.

At a rally in Ballari, Karnataka, which is close to going to the polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought up the movie, saying it showed the effects of terrorism on society.

To "avoid hatred and violence" in the state, the West Bengal government has outlawed the movie, escalating the state's conflict between the TMC and the BJP.
