The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) put limits on rain dance and pool parties for Holi 2024 celebrations on March 25 in an effort to alleviate the city's chronic water shortage.

The BWSSB issued an order requesting that commercial and recreational facilities refrain from using water from the Cauvery or borewells for rain dances or pool parties in honour of the festival.

The BWSSB stated in its most recent rules that Holi is "a festival celebrating Hindu culture" and that there are no limitations on celebrating it at home.

The BWSSB referenced the current water situation in the city in the new directive, stating that low rainfall has caused groundwater levels to decline and numerous borewells to run dry.

The board is dedicated to making sure that every home has access to clean drinking water. Public collaboration is essential in this kind of dire circumstance.

In addition to the prohibition order, the BWSSB mandated that, by the end of the month, aerators be installed in taps that are utilised by large quantities of people.
