Voting for 70 assembly seats in the capital city – Delhi will take place in a single-phase election on February 5. In addition to the seating party AAP, Congress and BJP are also here on the battleground, making this poll a three-way fight. While AAP is trying everything possible to secure the power for the 3rd consecutive term. The results of this Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 will be announced on February 8 by the Election Commission of India. Speaking about the deadline for filing candidates’ nominations, was on January 17. Since the election date has already been announced by the ECI, the Model Code of Conduct has been implemented.

As per the ECI’s latest notification, the election date along with the day decided for the counting are already announced. Here is the full schedule released:
- Gazette notification: 10th February 2025 (Friday)
- Last date for filing nominations: 17th February 2025 (Friday)
- Scrutiny of nominations: 18th February 2025 (Saturday)
- Last date for candidatures’ withdrawal: 20th February 2025 (Monday)
- Polling date: 5th February 2025 (Wednesday)
- Counting of votes: 8th February 2025 (Saturday)
Top Candidates for Delhi Election 2025
The assembly elections in Delhi are all set where people will see fierce competition among top contenders of AAP, Congress, and BJP. The former Chief Minister and chief of AAP – Arvind Kejriwal will be fighting to hold his seat in New Delhi. However, Parvesh Singh Verma from BJP is giving him a tight contest here who is the son of Sahib Singh Verma, ex-CM. Besides these two, Sandeep Dikshit, son of ex-CM late Shiela Dikshit will also show his power.
Apart from this, Kalkaji is going to be a tough seat this time as Delhi’s CM Atishi will be defending against Alka Lamba (Congress) and Ramesh Bidhuri (BJP). Notably, Atishi has a significantly great track record as she won in the 2020 assembly elections with a whopping margin of 11390+ votes.
Meanwhile, former education minister and deputy CM – Manish Sisodia will face the contest from Jangpura this time. He will be facing Farhad Suri from Congress and Tarvinder Singh Marwah from Congress, ensuring an interesting battle on this seat.
Apart from this, the BJP has many high-profile candidates for Delhi elections. This includes Arvinder Singh Lovely, former president of Congress from Gandhi Nagar, Raj Kumar Chauhan (ex-minister of AAP) from Mangolpuri, Raaj Kumar Anand (former minister) from Patel Nagar, and Kailash Gahlot (ex-transport minister of AAP) from Bijwasan seat.
Key Issues for 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections
Delhi elections 2025 are surrounded by some key issues. The ruling party, AAP has its focus on free services such as education, healthcare, water, electricity, public transport, etc. Additionally, they are giving preference to women’s safety and empowerment. This is why they have introduced a scheme named Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana where every woman will get Rs. 2100 monthly. The party has also announced a healthcare project – Sanjeevani Yojana to give free medical facilities up to Rs. 25 lakhs to senior citizens.
The BJP, on the other hand, has launched multiple attacks on the ruling party. They have highlighted the corruption allegations including the liquor scam. The leaders of the BJP mentioned the failure of AAP during its tenure. They have also raised the issues associated with pollution, roads, and water quality.
Amid this chaos, Congress is also hoping to get its position back in Delhi. Keeping this in mind, the party has launched many plans including Pyari Didi Yojana that will ensure Rs. 2500 monthly to all eligible women. Besides, they have released the Jeevan Raksha Yojana to give free health insurance worth Rs. 25 lakhs.
What are the predictions for Delhi Elections 2025?
AAP was established in 2012 and showed great results in the 2013 assembly elections where they secured 28 seats out of 70. Speaking about the vote share, it was 29.5%, 32.3%, and 24.6% for AAP, BJP, and Congress respectively.
However, the 2015 elections were fully dominated by AAP as they captured 67 out of 70 seats. In 2020, AAP again showcased its power-packed performance by winning 53.6% of vote share i.e. 62 seats out of 70. Keeping these stats in mind, the AAP looks pretty strong.
However, the BJP is also looking great in this contest. When it comes to Congress, things will definitely be tough for them as they have not won any seat in the last 2 assembly elections. Above all, February 8 will itself reveal Delhi’s new daredevils.
