A Compassionate Kid Award is on its way to 13-year-old Anya Kunder, the daughter of famous Bollywood director and choreographer Farah Khan Kunder, in time for Children’s Day (November 14), in appreciation of her work to save homeless animals during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Numerous animals in the neighborhood battled during the lockdowns because they relied on restaurant’s garbage and charity. Anya then came to their aid by offering to draw celebrities’ pets in exchange for a gift of Rs 1,000. She raised Rs. 4 lakh for PETA India and other animal protection organisations.
Anya assisted in providing food for neighbourhood animals on the Kalina campus of Mumbai University and joined her mother in urging others to support these animals by providing them with food, drink, love, and medical attention. Gulab and Jamun, two Indian canines, were even adopted by the couple.
As per Puja Mahajan, associate director of education and youth outreach at PETA India, “Anya has had a tremendous effect on vulnerable community dogs at barely 13 years old.” “This Children’s Day, PETA India honours her for teaching people of all ages the importance of treating animals with care.”
PETA India has urged educators to instruct children to follow Anya’s example in the classroom. More than 1.9 lakh schools in India have adopted its Compassionate Citizen programme, which targets students between the ages of 8 and 12, reaching out to over 89.8 million kids.
