On Wednesday, Rahman took to X (formerly Twitter), reflecting on their hopes to reach their 30th anniversary. He described the separation as a “fragile chapter” and expressed that, despite the heartbreak, they were searching for meaning. Rahman also thanked their friends for their kindness and respect for their privacy during this difficult time.
In his post, Rahman wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. A.R. Rahman and Saira Banu married in 1995 and have three children—Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen. On Tuesday, a statement from the couple’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, revealed that they had decided to separate after enduring significant emotional strain in their relationship. The joint statement emphasized that, despite their deep love for each other, the challenges and tensions between them had created a gap that neither felt could be bridged at this time.
