Turkish President Rechip Tayyip Ardoan called heads of several Islamic countries over violent clashes near the al-Aqsa Mosque and the rights of the Palestinians.
Ardoआनan has spoken to the heads of nations of Malaysia, Jordan, Kuwait and the political head of Hamas regarding Israel.
A statement issued from the Turkish presidential office said that Ardoआनan also spoke with Ismail Hania, the head of the Political Bureau of Hamas.
Describing the Israeli attack on al-Aqsa Mosque as a ‘terrorist act’, Ardoan told Ismail Hania that this attack is not only on Muslims but on the whole of humanity.
Ardo करेंगेan said, “They will do everything possible to unite the whole world to stop the Israeli occupation and its terror, but before that the Islamic countries need to be united.”
On Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also said that his country is “doing everything possible for a ceasefire … and hopefully it will be possible.”
On Sunday, the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting and President Antonio Gutrez warned that if the fighting continues we will reach “a non-stop human disaster”. He immediately appealed to “stop the violence”.
The United Nations has also warned of a shortage of fuel in Gaza and said that this could affect hospitals and other essential services.
But Israeli President Binyamin Netanyahu has said that the Israeli military campaign against the Palestinian extremist group Hamas in Gaza will continue with ‘full force’.
Netanyahu said in a cautionary tone, “As long as necessary, we will continue military operations … It will take time for peace to come to an end.”
The Israeli military says Palestinian extremists have fired more than 3,000 rockets over Israel in the past week. He says that 10 people, including two children, have died in Israel in the attacks that have been going on for the past one week.
A total of 197 people have died in Gaza, including 58 children and 34 women, in the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
