Arvind Kumar Sharma, an IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, was currently Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office and was still two years behind in his retirement. But before that he joined the BJP by taking VRS.
Arvind Sharma has been a 1988 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer. He has worked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 18 consecutive years. From 2001 to 2014 in the Chief Minister’s Office of Gujarat and again from 2014 till now in the Prime Minister’s Office.
In 2014, he came on central deputation and was made joint secretary here. He was currently the additional secretary in the PMO.
Arvind Sharma, a resident of Kazhakhurd village of Mohammadabad Gohna tehsil of Mau district of Uttar Pradesh, got his initial education in the village itself.
After studying at the local college till intermediate, he graduated from Allahabad University and then took a postgraduate degree in Political Science from there.
In 1988, he was selected in the Indian Administrative Service and was posted to the Gujarat cadre.
He became the commissioner of Mehsana in the year 1995 and after Narendra Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in the year 2001, Arvind Sharma was given the important responsibility as Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office. Since then, he is constantly with Narendra Modi.
In his brief interaction with the media after joining the party in Lucknow, he said only that he will try to live up to the responsibility given by the party.
He said, “On the strength of hard work and struggle, I got an IAS job. Only BJP and Narendra Modi can do the work of bringing a person from a political background to a political party. All the work that the party will give me I’ll try to get off. “

Ever since Arvind Sharma took VRS, there were speculations that he could be given a big responsibility in the government. After joining the party, it is believed that he will be a candidate from the party in the upcoming Legislative Council elections and then join the Council of Ministers.
But senior leaders of the state BJP are also very uneasy about this role of Arvind Sharma because if he is included in the Council of Ministers then he may be the only person who has such easy and natural access to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
