Sharda Sinha’s Husband Was Her Support

In an earlier interview, Sharda Sinha shared how her husband, Brij Bhushan Sinha, had a deep love for music, just like her. She recalled that after their wedding in 1970, she moved to her in-laws’ home in Begusarai, where the atmosphere was different, and even the dialect of Maithili was unique. Her mother-in-law had initially objected to her singing, stating that it was acceptable to perform devotional songs at home but not beyond that. According to the family tradition, daughters-in-law were not supposed to sing publicly, so she was asked to stop.

However, just five days into their marriage, the village head visited and told her father-in-law that Sharda sang beautifully and requested that she sing devotional songs at the village temple. Her father-in-law gave permission, bringing her immense joy, although her mother-in-law was displeased. During this difficult time, her husband supported her and convinced his mother to allow Sharda to continue her singing.

She wrote, “You stood firm like a pillar, supporting me at every step. Today, I will sit with you and remember all those moments that symbolize patience, tolerance, love, affection, strength, and the bond of togetherness in our married life.
