BSNL, a loss-making public sector company, has given a shock to its 5 crore users. According to media reports, the company has discontinued the unlimited free calling service for its prepaid users. Unlimited free calling services from BSNL prepaid plans of Rs 186, Rs 429, Rs 485, Rs 666 and Rs 1,699 have been discontinued. In these plans, users will be able to avail only 250 minutes of calling instead of unlimited calling. That is, users can get the benefit of free calling for only four and a half hours a day.
In such a situation, the stiff challenge from other public sector companies Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea will increase further. Recently, BSNL introduced many aggressive plans in the competition of these private telecom companies. Apart from this, the public sector company had started giving OTT service and additional data benefits to its users, but this new move of BSNL may disappoint the users.
In these plans of BSNL, users will now be charged at the rate of 1 paise per minute after 250 minutes of usage. If a user makes any call after 250 minutes, then he will have to pay for it. If there is no balance in the account, then they will not be able to call. With this, these 250 minutes you get every day will not be forwarded the next day.
Let us tell you that recently, BSNL had changed the Abhinandan-151 prepaid plan. Now, 500MB additional data is being offered to users in this plan. Now users are getting 1.5GB of data per day instead of 1GB in this plan. However, there was no change in the validity of this plan. Users still get 24 days’ validity as before.
