Situations like Emergency in the country: Supreme Court

the Supreme Court on Thursday heard two important cases related to Covid-19. Hearing the petition of the Vedanta group in the case of opening of Sterlite copper plant in Tamil Nadu, the court said that there are situations like emergency in the country. In the second case, the court expressed concern by taking automatic cognizance of the lack of oxygen and medicines.

Chief Justice SA Bobde’s bench asked the central government on the deteriorating condition of Corona, what national plan it had to deal with Corona. On the petition of the Vedanta group, the bench said that there is almost a national emergency in the country. In both the cases, the Supreme Court will hear on Friday.

It has been said in the news that the Supreme Court has sought a national plan from the government on these four issues, such as the supply of oxygen, essential medicines, the method of vaccination and the right to lockdown.

The lockout was ordered by the High Court in Uttar Pradesh amid deteriorating circumstances due to rising Corona cases, on which the Yogi government had moved the Supreme Court, on which it was relieved.

If the oxygen supply is interrupted, action will be taken against DM-SP

The Union Home Ministry has fixed the responsibility of DM and SP to maintain the supply of oxygen to various hospitals for Corona patients.

If there is an obstruction in the oxygen supply, action can be taken against them like a disaster management law.

The Home Ministry has issued a new order following Prime Minister Modi’s directive to fix the responsibility of the officials if there is an obstruction in oxygen supply.

It has been said in the news that “in the last three-four days it has started to become clear that more than the availability of oxygen in the country, there are more problems in supply and irregularities occurring at some levels”.
