The process of worshiping Mahagauri, the eighth form of Maa Bhagwati in Shaktipeeth, started from 4 o’clock in the evening. The Chief Minister took part in the rituals from 6 pm onwards after inaugurating the strengthening and beautification project of Kalibari. In order to worship Mahagauri, the Chief Minister worshiped Gauri-Ganesh, Varun, Yantra, weapon, Lord Ram-Lakshman-Sita, Ardhanarishvara, Dwadash Jyotirlinga and Navagraha. After the recitation of Durga Saptashati, the ritual of Mahanisha Puja was completed. In this sequence, the Chief Minister made a sattvik sacrifice of coconut, sugarcane, banana, nutmeg etc. The yogi harvested the barley plants grown on the altar in the midst of Vedic chants. After that a havan is performed on the altar by invoking Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra and the god of fire. After the aarti and apology, the Navratri rituals of Wednesday came to an end with the distribution of prasad.
