Attempts were made to know the truth behind these claims which went viral on the internet media. The PIB Fact Check Team (PIBFactCheck), the fact-checking agency for the central government, took cognizance of the news of the complete lockdown again. The PIB Fact Check team has shared the entire truth behind these claims on its Twitter handle. The PIB Fact Check team wrote in a tweet- ‘In a post going viral on social media, it is being claimed that the central government has announced the imposition of a complete lockdown in the country from May 3 to May 20. PIBFactCheck stated that this claim is bogus. The central government has not made any such announcement.

What has PM Modi said about the lockdown?

On 20 April in his name address to the country, PM Modi made it clear that the government does not want to impose lockdown from anywhere. PM Modi had said that in the present situation we have to save the country from lockdown. He had said that I would also request the states to use lockdown as the last option. Have to try hard to avoid lockdown.
