Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s film Shershah Shershaah, the biopic of Param Vir Chakra winner Captain Vikram Batra, who was martyred in the Kargil war, will be released directly on OTT platform Amazon Prime on this Independence Day instead of theatres. The discussion of Sher Shah’s coming on the OTT platform was going on in the industry for some time, but on Thursday, Prime has confirmed it by making an official announcement.

Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s film Shershah The film is directed by Vishnuvardhan, while the producer is Karan Johar’s company Dharma Productions. This is Karan’s first association with Amazon Prime Video, which has been directing stories for anthology films for Netflix. Shershaah is the ninth Bollywood film to be released directly on Prime. Kiara Advani is the female lead along with Siddharth in the film.

Prime has shared a video with the announcement of the film, which shows some clips of the Kargil War and Captain Vikram Batra. The video also has some scenes from the film. With this, it has been told that the world premiere of Sher Shah will take place on August 12.
Apart from Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, the film also stars Shiv Pandit, Raj Arjun, Pranay Pachauri, Himanshu Ashok Malhotra, Nikitin Dheer, Ankita Goraya, Anil Charanjit, Sahil Vaid, Shataf Figure, and Pawan Chopra in lead roles.
Sher Shah was earlier scheduled to release in theaters on July 2 this year, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, theaters were closed and the release of the films was postponed. In particular, the impact of the closure of cinema halls in Maharashtra was the most on the release of films. A major part of the box office collections of Hindi films comes from the Mumbai Territory.
Bhuj vs Sher Shah on Independence Day
This Independence Day there will be a contest between Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj – The Prime of India and Siddharth’s Shershaah on the OTT platform. Bhuj will release on August 13 on Disney Plus Hotstar.
