The PM praised India’s vaccination campaign and said, “In the last 50-60 years, it used to take decades for India to get the vaccine from abroad. We were busy in increasing the vaccine coverage, by then the corona came. We did it in April last year. It was he who made the Vaccine Task Force. Provide thousands of crores of rupees to vaccine manufacturers. Today 23 crore people have been given the vaccine. Today India’s vaccination campaign is going faster than many developed countries.
What is the decision of the Center on vaccine distribution
PM Modi said that from January 16 to the end of April, India’s vaccination campaign was going on under the supervision of the Centre.
“Meanwhile, some states demanded to decentralize the campaign, asking them to leave some work to the states. Questions were also raised on the age group, which was run by a section of the media as a campaign. In view of this, 25 percent from May 1 The work was handed over to the states. When the states faced difficulties, they asked them to reconsider. We thought that the countrymen should not suffer, so we decided to implement the earlier system.”
Regarding the decision, PM Modi said, “From today it has been decided that the Government of India will also take responsibility for 25 percent of the work related to vaccination that was with the states. This system will be implemented in the next two weeks and the Center and the states will Governments will make necessary preparations together.”
“On the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21, the Government of India will provide free vaccines to all citizens above the age of 18 years. The central government will provide free vaccines to the states by purchasing 75% of the total production from vaccine manufacturers. The remaining 25% will be purchased by private hospitals. And they will be able to charge a maximum service charge of Rs 150 for a single dose. The work of monitoring this will be done by the state governments.
