In the Qualifier 1 match of the VIVO Indian Premier League 2018, Chennai won the match by 2 wickets while chasing 140 and have finally sealed their berth in the IPL 2018 final.
This was due to some fantastic batting by Faf du Plessis and a cameo by Shardul Thakur.
The final is scheduled for May 27th. Now the next qualifier is between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals and CSK will play the winner of the match in the final.
In the 17th over Kaul bowled well and gave away only 4 runs. Now CSK needed 43 from 18 balls. Faf hit Brathwaite for a four and a six as he came to bowl the 18th over, with this he completed his half-century as well
Harbhajan was run out on the bowler’s end and then came batsman Shardul Thakur. Faf again showed his class as he hit Brathwaite for 20 runs taking the winning target to be 23 from 12 balls. Kaul bowled the 19th over and Thakur hit two boundaries in his over. Now the equation stood at 6 from 6 deliveries. Bhuvneshwar came to bowl and was hit for a six in the very first delivery itself and CSK finished in style.
Earlier CSK were off to a bad start as Shane Watson was caught clueless by an out swinger by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and was out for a duck.
Suresh Raina was the new man in and scored a run from the very first delivery he faced. Sandeep Sharma came to bowl the 2nd over and Raina smashed 3 consecutive fours.
He went for 13 in his over. Then Kumar came to bowl the 3rd over and kept the bowling tight for de Plessis and Raina. Then Rashid continued and gave away only 2 runs in the 10th over. Rashid then took the wicket of Bravo who was caught in the slips by Dhawan as he went for 7 runs only.
Next Jadeja came to bat and after 12 overs CSK were 61 for 5. Then Brathwaite was introduced into the attack and he gave away only 3 runs from his over, next Rashid came and got the wicket of Dhoni. Dhoni just scored 9 of 18 balls
Dwayne Bravo came to the crease. After 8 overs CSK were at 40 for the loss of 4 wickets. Carlos came to the attack, and du Plessis was hit for a six. CSK were at 48-4 in 9 overs.
