President Joe Biden addressed the country when the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the US crossed five lakh. America has the highest number of deaths due to corona in the world.
Addressing the nation, President Biden said, “As a country, we cannot accept such cruel fate. We must not let the feeling of sorrow go numb. ”
Candles were paid to the dead by lighting candles outside the White House, with the President and Vice-President keeping a brief silence with their life partners.
So far, more than 28.1 million Americans have been exposed to the Corona infection, which is another global record.
President Biden called on Americans to fight against Covid,
“Today I tell all Americans to remember them. Remember those we lost and remember those we left behind. ”
The President ordered half the national flag to be lowered on government buildings for the next five days.
At the beginning of his speech at the White House, he said that Americans did not have as many deaths due to Covid, including World War One, World War Two, and Vietnam War.
He said, “Today we have actually reached a wretched and heartbreaking milestone of 500,071 deaths.”
“We have often heard people called ordinary Americans. There is nothing like this, nothing is common among them. The ones we lost were extraordinary. He was born in America or left his country and came to America. ”
He said, “Many of them breathed their last alone in America.”
Then He recalled his own moments of grief – his wife and daughter died in a car accident in 1972 and one of their sons died of brain cancer in 2015.
He said, “For me, my journey of sorrow and grief is a pursuit of purpose.”
President Biden’s approach to the epidemic is different from that of former President Donald Trump, who doubted the impact of the deadly virus and was seen politicizing wearing masks and other steps to prevent the spread of the virus.
