In this circular it was said that nurses should speak only in Hindi or English language and not in any other language, otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
The circular was issued by the Nursing Superintendent’s Office of Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital on Saturday in which Malayalam language was specifically mentioned.
The circular cited a complaint that “some nurses in Pant Hospital use Malayalam language which is difficult for patients and their companions to understand. This causes inconvenience. Therefore the nursing staff speak only in Hindi or in English.” Do it. Otherwise strict action will be taken.”
Now the hospital administration has said that “this circular was issued without his knowledge, which has been withdrawn.”
nurses openly protested
The unions of nurses working in big hospitals like AIIMS, Lok Nayak (LNJP) and Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) in Delhi openly opposed the circular.
He called it a ‘biased and wrong decision’. The nurses had talked about starting a social media campaign against it.
Some nurses said through Twitter and Facebook that “Nearly 60 percent of the nurses in Delhi are from Kerala. They can talk to each other in their mother tongue, but it is difficult to talk to unknown patients or from other states.” Come will try to talk to my colleagues in Malayalam.”
However, these nurses admitted that if someone is doing this intentionally, then he is wrong.
Some nurses had also raised this question in a conversation with the local media that “Nurses of some other states including Punjab and Manipur also work in Delhi, they also talk in their mother tongue when they meet. Not made an issue. Why are only Malayalam speaking nurses being targeted.”
