Excessive consumption of diet soda can increase the risk of dementia and stroke. This information has come up in a study conducted by Boston University’s School of Medicine researchers. Drinks such as diet soda have artificial sweeteners such as asparatums and sakaran, which can make drinks harmful to our health. The report related to this study has been published in the American Heart Association’s journal Stroke.

Researchers monitored around 4,000 people for this study, out of which 3,000 showed dementia developing or prone to stroke. When the follow-up was taken after 10 years, it was revealed that those who constantly consumed drinks such as soda, they had a very high risk of Alzheimer’s and stroke.

Diet, age and fitness are the focus on many factors
when the team of researchers noticed these people’s other factors such as diet, smoking, fitness, and age, it was found that they were more likely to develop health problems. However, the most interesting thing was that the team was unable to explain the link between the three. This study was observational and needed to know whether or not the cause of diet soda, dementia and stroke, and the need for research.

3% stroke and 5% of dementia
Matthew Paes, a senior fellow at the Boston University School of Medicine, told a news portal: “Even though some people are three times more likely to develop the problem of stroke or dementia, but this is not from their fate.” He said, ‘In our research, 3% of people had a stroke and 5% of people were at risk of dementia. So we are still talking about a small number of them. ‘
