Kajal Khanchandani on how characters shape up the story of a TV show:
The dadi in Pyaar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan, played by Kajal Khanchandani, believes that the show’s USP is the way it blends traditional and modern ideas.
“The plot is really straightforward but wonderful,” she claims. The execution is excellent, and the characters have been well-etched. Strong characters, in my opinion, do better to shape the plot. The audience can relate to a story better because of how characters affect the action and give it more reality. Regarding the shift in TV programming, Kajal asserts that “audiences demand freshness — freshness in perspective, characters, look, and absolutely everything. There is hence no reason why a saas-bahu story presented to audiences shouldn’t function, even if it has a different viewpoint and likeable characters. Given their access to so many OTT platforms, viewers have been exposed to a lot of content. As a result, they are constantly changing and require new content every day.
Kajal Khanchandani first show:
Kajal’s first serial in 2022 was PKPNRS. She added “I was a part of Mann Sundar on Dangal Channel last year. An actor should, in my opinion, be willing to try out various characters. We need to quickly unlearn, relearn, switch roles, and give audiences a character that is new. Therefore, I don’t believe a break is required”.
The actress agrees that having a local following boosts the popularity of a programme. Yes, language and dress do matter. Like I stated before, people connect really well if the character is sympathetic and credible. Kajal continues, seeing each new performance as a new adventure because in real life she is an adventurous person who does not hesitate to do new things.
The way love is portrayed in Pyaar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan is what makes it special, says Kajal Khanchandani:
The newest TV drama from Prateek Sharma (Studio LSD), Pyaar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan, stars Kajal Khanchandani. In it, she plays the part of Dadi. The performer claims that the show’s name is fairly original and that her initial impression of the programme was that it was a love story. She became even more intrigued, though, when she learned that it’s a very different kind of pure, innocent love, similar to that of Radha and Krishna.
“The manner that love is portrayed in the show is what makes it special. And it’s not love as we understand it now; rather, it’s love that grants freedom and rejoices in the happiness of the one you love. This world is still a better place because of this unadulterated, unconditional love, the speaker claims.
She continues, “I am portraying the Dadi of the main character, Radha, in the show” (Niharika Roy). I cherish my granddaughter dearly. Her father is very forgiving toward Radha because she lost her mother when she was a very small child. I make an effort to be a little bit tough and controlled with Radha despite the fact that I know the father and the girl are innocent. I try to convey to her how the outside world will judge and analyse her unwavering commitment to Mohan and would only bring her misery and suffering in return. Since I adore her so much, I don’t want her to endure any suffering.
Controversies about Kajal Khanchandani:
“I mean, there’s nothing that comes to me right now, but I’d want to share one specific instance. I recently experienced a personal tragedy, and I’d want to say how everyone on the sets cared about me and supported me at that time. Actually, I recently lost my 28-year-old niece. She had a severe heart attack. I was simply not in the appropriate frame of mind to shoot, but as you are aware, we had a lot of scenes that were to be delivered by a certain date. Despite my best efforts, I was unable to deliver my dialogue well since I was furious and making mistakes. Therefore, we had to do a couple retakes.
Despite this, the cast and crew—especially our director, Mr. Prateek Shah—were utterly supportive throughout. He was really accommodating and patient. I had enough time to adjust and perform because everyone was really considerate,” she says, seeming upset.
In order to lighten the mood and decompress during breaks, Kajal reveals that the crew gathers together and plays games like Antakshri. The actor continues, “We also create Instagram reels or just hang around and talk about anecdotes over a cup of tea and some goodies.”
