This Tuesday at the Google I/O, Google showcased how its virtual assistant can now call restaurants and salons to book appointments while navigating complex conversations. The Alphabet Inc unit acknowledged that technology was becoming very complex leaving user frazzled and needing solutions.
The demonstration which took place at the Google I/O, which is an annual event for creators of Google compatible products and it showcased how big tech companies were positioning themselves for a lucrative artificial intelligence revolution at the same time taking into account the lack of privacy and societal scrutiny.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai and other Google officials said that Google is working on finding ways to reduce stress from technology and improve customers’ “digital well-being.” “We can’t just be wide-eyed about the innovations technology creates,” he added
Also at the event Google showcased how its Gmail email programme could suggest sentences and how Google Assistant can make calls on the customer’s behalf.
Also was revealed a new tool in its Android software, which is the most popular mobile software in the world, which will notify users how much they are using their apps and set limits for usage for themselves and their family members.
Pichai, who delivered a keynote at the annual conference, spoke about everything the technology giant has been planning since last year.
He started the speech by tendering an apology for the placement of cheese on burger emoji and beer emoji which was a half-full mug with foam coming out of the top.
“I never knew so many cared about where the cheese is,” says Sundar Pichai. And surprise, surprise: he’s a vegetarian!,” he said at the stage.
Google, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft with other technology leaders are trying to maximize the earning potential of the apps business and finding it to be a great platform to sell, promote and market products
Amazon has already launched its Echo smart speakers which use voice assistants. Offloading tasks to virtual assistants to manage photos, emails and schedules is part of the companies’ remedy for decreasing screen time.
