The festive season has become a cause of concern for governments amid Corona’s growing transition. More than 53 thousand cases have been reported in 24 hours. Out of this, 80 percent new cases have been registered in Maharashtra, Punjab, Kerala, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat only. In view of this, many states have started taking strict steps. Many states including Delhi, UP and Haryana have banned the celebration of Holi in public and said that they should celebrate Holi in a simple manner by staying at their homes. During this time strict action will also be taken against those who violate the rules.

No Holi at public places in Delhi The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has directed that public festivals and gatherings will be banned during the upcoming festivals like Holi, Shab-e-Baaraat, Navratri etc. The program will not be allowed in public places, parks, markets, religious places. It said that the government is very sensitive about the corona that has been declared an epidemic in the world. Corona cases are increasing daily in Delhi. In such a situation, during festivals in Delhi, there will be a ban on organizing the festivities in any public places.
Guidelines issued by UP government
Amid the spurt in infections, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued specific guidelines ahead of the Holi celebrations. This includes not taking out a procession without prior permission. As per the guidelines, people above 60 years of age and children below 10 years of age are not allowed to participate in any form of celebration. During this time the state will be on high alert and people have been instructed to strictly follow the Corona Guidelines during any procession to be held after getting approval from the government, wear a mask and use a sanitizer.
Ban on public celebration in Haryana too
The Haryana government has banned the public festival in view of the upcoming Holi festival. During the last few days, Haryana has been witnessing more than 800 new cases daily. Home and Health Minister Anil Vij said in a tweet that the Haryana government has banned public celebrations of Holi. Gurugram, Karnal, Ambala and Panchkula are among the districts most affected.
Ban on celebrations in Maharashtra
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has banned the Holi celebrations at both private and public places on 28 and 29 March, in view of the increase in Corona cases. At the same time, Pune has also banned Holi celebrations in public and private places in view of the rise in new cases. The order states that Holi celebrations have been banned in public places such as hotels, resorts and other public places in rural areas due to increase in cases of corona virus. During this time, the housing committees will not be allowed to hold Holi celebrations in their premises on 28 and 29 March.

Ban on public celebration in Gujarat
The Gujarat government has banned public celebrations during Holi in view of the pace of Corona. However, Holika Dahan rituals have been allowed to be performed in smaller ceremonies. According to the notification issued by the Home Department, due to the epidemic on March 29, public festivities and mass celebrations may not be allowed. Traditional Holika Dahan can be organized on the eve of Holi, but only a limited number of people will be allowed to participate. The organizers must ensure that no crowds are gathered during this period and that people strictly follow the guidelines of Covid-19.
Appeal to celebrate Holi within homes
In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has appealed to people to celebrate Holi within their homes, due to the speed of Corona. During this time, there will be no fair in the state on the occasion of Holi. In the cabinet meeting, it was decided that theaters, clubs, swimming pools and restaurants in the districts with more than 20 cases will be closed. The restaurant will not have the facility of sitting and eating, but will be allowed to carry the parcel. There will be a ban on the participation of 50 people in the wedding ceremony and more than 20 people in the funeral procession.
