That is why it is being told that many of Biden’s decisions, which are going on with the Middle East, seem completely opposite from the previous government’s stand. One of these decisions is the release of the report of the American intelligence agency related to the murder of Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashojji.
Experts say that as soon as Biden took over as President, he started giving hints that during his tenure or so, human rights are now being emphasized more on the agenda of ‘Democrats’.
However, analysts are interpreting this decision
The US in its own way. Some feel that the release of the report has dealt a big blow to the ‘Crown Prince’ of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman. However, some analysts believe that Mohammed bin Salman’s involvement has not been directly stated in the report.
There is a debate in India’s diplomatic circles as to whether other western countries after America will also start making distance with Mohammed bin Salman?
After the release of the report, the ‘White House’ has tried to clarify that the US asks to assess relations with Saudi Arabia.
However, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the US does not want to spoil its relations with Saudi Arabia by taking direct action on Mohammed bin Salman. He also said that the US wants to ensure that the incidents like the murder of journalist Jamal Khashojji were not in the future and that the two countries should work together on issues of common concern.
Just before the report arrived, the US Secretary of State
Announced a ban on traveling to the US of a total of 76 Saudi Arab officials who are alleged to have threatened to intimidate Saudi nationals living abroad.
President of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi also issued a statement saying that the US Congress fully supports President Joe Biden’s decision to raise the purview of human rights and defend his principles.
