World Literacy Day 2021

UNESCO has declared the theme of this year’s International Literacy Day as “Literacy for Human-Centered Recovery: Bridging the Digital Divide”. According to UNESCO, International Literacy Day 2021 will explore how literacy can contribute to building a solid foundation for human-centered recovery. This time, special attention will be given to the necessary steps between literacy and digital skills required for non-literate youth and adults. At the same time, it will also be explored whether technology-enabled literacy makes learning inclusive and meaningful so that no one is left behind. In doing so, World Literacy Day 2021 will be an opportunity to re-imagine the near future of literacy, teaching, and learning in this time of pandemic and beyond.
