According to the information received from the police, the security forces started the siege of the area around 1 am, after the reported presence of three to four militants in Imam Sahib area of ​​Shopian. 44 RR, CRPF and SOG personnel of Jammu were involved in the operation. After reaching Imam Sahib, the security forces started moving closer to the house where the terrorists were hiding. As soon as the terrorists saw the security forces coming close to them, they started firing.

After the siege, security forces asked the militants to surrender. The terrorists responded with a grenade attack. On this, the army also started firing. After a brief encounter, the security forces once again asked the militants to surrender. This time a terrorist expressed his desire to lay down arms. He left the weapon and came out and surrendered. She was identified as Kajapora Reban, a resident of Tausif Ahmed.

On coming out, he too asked his comrades to surrender their weapons several times but they did not agree. After this, the process of firing from both sides intensified. During the encounter, the security forces evacuated the people present in the surrounding houses. After this, the security forces killed three terrorists. The army has handed him over to the police. Due to the presence of more militants in the area, the army conducted a search operation in the area. Meanwhile, the bodies of the other three terrorists and a large amount of arms ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site. When it was ensured that no more terrorists were present in the area, the operation was called off.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, confirming the killing of three of al-Badr’s militants and surrendering one, said that the operation would be terminated as soon as the search operation was completed.
