The summers are here and so is the hunt for the right AC for home. The kind of temperatures Delhi has to bear is not funny and an AC becomes a must in the scorching heat. With so many brands in the market, it definitely becomes a mammoth task to select the right AC at the right price, at the right time. Buying an AC can be tricky, as companies confuse the consumers with a wide variety of features. So the hunt for the right AC goes on
Here are some useful tips and tricks to beat the heat, especially while buying an AC this summer:
The Capacity of the AC
There are many factors to consider while deciding on the capacity of the AC to buy. The first factor is the room size. If the room size is 100-125 sqft then a 1 Ton capacity will do. And if the room size is 170-240 sqft then you will require a 2 ton AC. For a room of 130-160 sqft, a 1.5 ton AC will be enough.
Some other factors to consider are to check the window size as well as the amount of sunlight coming in to the room, as that affects the cooling capacity of the AC in the room.
Split AC vs Window AC
Split AC’s are more expensive to purchase and utilize than Window AC’s. Window AC’s are installed in the window of the room. Window AC’s come as a single unit which contains all the components of air conditioning. This comprises of compressor, motor, condenser, connecting pipes and other components.
Split AC’s have two units, indoor and outdoor. As the compressor is installed outside the room, Split AC’s are relatively quieter and make less sound. The advantage Split AC’s have is that they can be installed in room without windows.
USAGE
If you buy a 5 star AC, which is more expensive, for all kinds of usage it is not such a wise idea. Your daily usage and energy saving rate of AC also makes a difference. For example, if you use the AC for 5-7 hours a day for 4-5 months then a 3 star AC will be sufficient. If the time duration and usage is higher, only then do you need to buy a 5 star AC.
Keeping in mind these factors before buying an AC will save you time, effort and money. So go for the AC based on these factors and get the best deal for your buck, as retailers are having discount sales before the really hot months.
