MS Dhoni is irreplaceable, according to Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli. He feels that no one can match Dhoni when it came to limited overs cricket and that Dhoni’s acumen was a great asset to the team.
Vinod Rai, the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators Chief has revealed the extent to which Kohli relies on Dhoni’s prowess in the limited over setup.
Talking about the relationship between the current and former Indian captains, Rai said that there was mutual respect and camaraderie between the two, Virat respected Dhoni for his acumen and Dhoni respected what Virat is achieving as an ace player and captain.
Kohli had told the CoA that Dhoni, who won the WT20 and ICC World Cup as Indian captain was irreplaceable, according to Rai.He also said that Virat feels that Dhoni was critical and irreplaceable in the limited over set up as of now
It was in December 2014 that Virat became the Indian captain for the Test team, which was midway through the Australian series when Dhoni abruptly announced his retirement from the longer format of the game. Dhoni continues to be a key player in the ODI’s and T20 format though.
Dhoni is not just an intelligent cricketer and not only his knowledge but also his wicketkeeping skills made him a critical asset for the Indian team. Virat felt that Dhoni was the best Indian wicketkeeper today and there were no faster pair of gloves than Dhoni today in India, Rai was quoted as saying.
Rai also mentioned that Dhoni’s experience, maturity, prowess and his cricketing mind of many years made him an asset for Virat.
The two together make a lethal combo, which the Indian side cannot do without. Dhoni needs Virat and Virat needs Dhoni and the Indian cricket team needs both of them to perform and deliver together and with each other.
