Patel is accusing the people of Lakshadweep of trying to “harm the culture, living, eating habits and the needless fear”. He says that many of the recent proposed rules are “against democratic dignity”.

But people are afraid that now such incidents will become common. Another resident of the area, on the condition of anonymity, said that people are afraid that their lands may be taken away in the coming time, as a new provision has given many rights to the Lakshadweep Development Authority.
