Simarjeet Singh, a fitness trainer, decided to pull off a hilarious prank by impersonating the famous Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh to see how people would react. To his surprise, many people actually believed he was Dosanjh, stopping him for photos and expressions of excitement. Singh shared a video of the entire stunt on his Instagram, which quickly went viral, amassing over 3.5 million views.
The video shows Singh strolling along FC Road in Pune, surrounded by a group of bodyguards. Dressed in a checked shirt, black pants, an orange turban, and sunglasses, with part of his face concealed by a black handkerchief, Singh looked strikingly similar to Dosanjh. As he walked, onlookers were in awe, with some eagerly asking for pictures. One person can be heard saying, “Diljit Paji ek photo (Diljit, one photo please).”
The video sparked a wave of reactions from viewers. One user commented, “And people actually believed you were Diljit Dosanjh.” Another wrote, “I feel bad for those who took pictures with him.” A third joked, “For a moment, I thought it was Diljit… Smart use of the 3-second attention span!”
Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh has been wowing audiences with his energetic Dil-Luminati tour across India. However, his recent concert in Hyderabad took an unexpected turn on November 15, when the Telangana Government served him a notice over lyrics in his songs that allegedly promoted alcohol and drugs. In response, Dosanjh decided to humorously modify the lyrics, replacing references to alcohol with Coca-Cola.
During the performance, he changed “5 tara theke” to “5 tara hotel” and swapped “daaru ‘ch lemonade” with “Coke ‘ch lemonade,” leaving the audience in fits of laughter. The funny moment even caught the attention of Coca-Cola, which responded to a video saying, “Chautha kaam twade gaane japne! (The fourth task is to chant your songs.)”
