Maria Ruis, a resident of Spain, secured first place in the examination of Acharya i.e. Masters (MA) in the subject of pre-eminence from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, and she was presented the gold medal by UP Governor Anandiben Patel in the convocation of the university. Very few students choose former epistemology as the main subject.
Maria says, “I was interested in learning the language since childhood.
The teachers of linguistics learned that there is a lot of research in Sanskrit and all the answers to my questions can be found in Sanskrit. So I learned Sanskrit Decided to read. ”
Sanskrit may not be considered a very lucrative language in India today, even though fewer people are studying it and Maria believes it is different.
She says, “I have not even studied for employment,
I have read for knowledge. And when you get knowledge, then other things have nothing to do with that. If you look at employment, then in other languages too. And there is no dearth of opportunities in Sanskrit as compared to literature. ”
Maria now wants to pursue her PhD in Sanskrit and still wants to stay in India. She stays with some of her peers in a gurukul in Godoulia while studying at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University.
Apart from many countries of Europe, students of other countries also live in this Gurukul. Maria herself lives here in traditional Indian attire and her routine is similar to that of other Gurukul students.
Maria says that she came to India under the exchange
Program of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and first enrolled in a Sanskrit certificate course. Before coming here, she knew Spanish, German, and English languages but did not know Hindi and Sanskrit. Today, both these languages are also spoken by Maria Fratardar. She also interacts with her teachers and other students in Sanskrit.
Nearly fifty children also live in the Vedic Gurukul of Varanasi where Maria lives. Apart from teaching Sanskrit to these children, they also teach meditation, evening, and yoga. She says that the routine of those people starts at three o’clock in the morning and then goes to university for studies at eleven o’clock.
He had to work hard to learn the language but there was not much difficulty. Maria explains, “People think how did they study up to Acharya starting from A, B, C. I also used to think that I will be able to learn or not. The language here and then Sanskrit. It was done very easily. University gurus helped me a lot. If they did not get support, all this would not have been possible. ”
Maria’s family lives in Spain.
He has two brothers, one of whom is an engineer and one is still studying. Before coming to Banaras, Maria was an air hostess in British Airlines and received a good salary. Before coming to Varanasi, he had graduated from Spain in social work. In Varanasi, he has obtained the degree of Shastri i.e. Graduation and then Acharya
Professor Kamalakant Tripathi, former head of the department of epistemology at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, says, “Here Indian and foreign students study equally and we explain to everyone equally. Certainly, foreign students have little trouble in beginning at the language level. But as teachers, we try to overcome those problems. “
