It was the 50th match of the Indian Premier League and a very crucial one at that. It was a competition between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab and although the latter dominated in most of the match it was Mumbai Indians who pulled up a surprising victory
Mumbai Indians are now in the 4th spot after winning this match against Kings XI Punjab, while Punjab are now at the 6th position.
Lokesh Rahul played an amazing inning and almost took his team to victory but Bumrah changed the tide as he clinched 3 wickets for only 15 runs in his 4 overs in the magical spell.
Punjab, chasing 187 looked comfortable because of the 100 runs partnership between Rahul and Finch.
It was a nail-biting finish in the last few overs of Punjab’s innings when Punjab needed 17 of the final over and the drama extended to the last ball of the match
In the match which was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Punjab won the toss and put Mumbai in to bat.
Openers Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav opened the innings for Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai’s innings was going to take place and just then Andrew Tye took 4 crucial wickets during his spell.
Mumbai Skipper Rohit Sharma went back to the pavilion without scoring once again. Krunal’s wicket went cheap but Pollard continued to attack and got out only after scoring a half-century.
Even though things were not going Mumbai’s way they still managed to put up a good total of 186 on the scoreboard.
While chasing Mumbai’ Lokesh Rahul accelerate the run chase. Gayle too looked handsome before departing cheaply.
Rahul ended up scoring a fifty in a 100 run partnership with Finch who fell short of his half-century.
Mumbai were praying for a wicket and then Bumrah struck and got Stoinis under his web.
Rahul tried his best to keep the run chase alive but got dismissed at the critical moment when Punjab was on the verge of victory
