Mumbai Indians came up with a fantastic performance against Kolkata Knight Riders defeating them at the Eden Gardens in the 41st match of the VIVO Indian Premier League 2018, on Wednesday. Mumbai Indian won by a mammoth margin of 102 runs.
With this magnificent win, Mumbai Indians moved up to the 4th spot of the VIVO IPL points table
Mumbai Indians lost the toss and were put to bat first against Kolkata Knight Riders and they accumulated a mammoth 211 runs in their 20 overs.
At one stage it was looking as if Kolkata bowlers would finish off the Indians innings even before the 20 overs but Ishan Kishan played a fantastic inning and went for some brave and exciting shots.
In his outstanding knock, Ishan hit 62 runs off just 21 deliveries which included 6 sixes.
Rohit Sharma also contributed to the score and made a significant impact. Earlier Suryakumar Yadav and Lewis were made to play spin bowling earlier on and Piyush Chawla got the breakthrough for Kolkata by dismissing Lewis in an unusual fashion
Next went Yadav who was trapped before the stumps on the back foot and could not recover as Chawla got his wicket.
Ishan Kishan played a match-winning knock and put zest and life in the otherwise dull Mumbai innings by pulling off some big shots. This made Kolkata recall the spinners.
Ishan was in full form as he hit four consecutive sixes in a 50 run stand with Rohit which also led him to his fifty.
Now with these brilliant batting performances, Mumbai looked in the driver’s seat and the match was tilting Mumbai’s way.
Finally, Narine dismissed Ishan after he had inflicted some serious damage against the Knight Riders. Rohit also played well and put up a good batting performance.
Then when Kolkata went to bat, they were playing on home soil and had the prestige and reputation to save and keep their claim alive in this year’s IPL.

Robin Uthappa also went cheaply before Kolkata could reach the 50 run mark. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals and as soon as skipper Dinesh Karthik’s wicket fell, Kolkata knew they had lost the match.
The tail enderscoudent contribute much and all went cheaply. Mumbai smacked a sensational victory against Kotkallta on their home ground and shone with stellar performances in batting, bowling and fielding.
