Congress president (Sonia Gandhi) has appointed Navjot Singh Sidhu as the chief of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect on Sunday. Sonia Gandhi also appointed four working presidents to assist Navjot Singh Sidhu in the run-up to the next assembly elections. The new working presidents are Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Sangat Singh Gilzian, Kuljit Singh Nagra, and Pawan Goel, who represent different regions and castes.
The latest development comes as tension continues to simmer between Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu Punjab Congress MLA Amarinder Singh Raja congratulated Navjot Singh Sidhu on becoming the state unit chief.according to a statement by the All India Congress Committee. “The party appreciates the contributions of outgoing PCC president Sunil Jakhar,” it added.
