The ministers of the Delhi government had given their recommendations to the state cabinet, which have been approved.
Under the new excise policy, the Delhi government has decided to make several major changes. This includes decisions ranging from closing government liquor shops to 21 years of minimum drinking age.
Manish Sisodia told that Kejriwal cabinet has approved the new excise policy on Monday.
This policy will be implemented this year. This policy will also increase the government’s revenue by 20 percent.
Key things in the new excise policy
– There will no longer be government liquor shops in Delhi.
According to the ward, there will be equal distribution of liquor shops.
– No new liquor shops will be opened. The existing shops as of now, will run in Delhi.
– The legal age for drinking alcohol in Delhi has been reduced from 25 years to 21 years.
Reasons behind the new policy
The Deputy Chief Minister gave mainly two reasons behind the introduction of the new abortion policy. First to get control of liquor mafia and second to increase the revenue of the government.
At the same time, he also emphasized that the liquor shops should have equal distribution according to the area and it should be convenient for the customers to buy liquor.
He said that by changing the excise policy, all those factories are being removed due to which the liquor mafia is successful in running its illegal business.
