Early life of Nikhat Zareen:
She was born in Telangana’s Nizamabad district on June 14, 1996. At the Nirmala Hrudaya Girls High School in Nizamabad, she finished her secondary education. She is currently a B.A. student at Hyderabad’s AV College. Her father Mohammed Jamil Ahmed introduced her to boxing and instructed her in the sport’s early stages for around a year. She had a passion for boxing and was very dedicated, so her father sent her to Sports Authority of India (SAI), Vishakhapatnam in 2009 to learn under I. V. Rao, who was also a Dronacharya awardee. She was honoured as the “golden best boxer” at the 2010 Erode Nationals.
Personal life:
In her family of four daughters, she is the third daughter. Her mother is a homemaker named Parveen Sultana, while her father is an ordinary salesman named Jamil Ahmed. By observing her boxing coach uncle Shamshamuddin, she became interested in the sport. Nikhat Zareen earned how to train early by observing her uncle coach his sons. She credits her own diligence and perseverance for her success. She acknowledges and agrees that the road to achievement was not straightforward. Nikhat Zareen received criticism and demotivation from a lot of people, including her friends and family, but she never gave up.
Only her father has consistently encouraged her, despite all of the criticism, to press forward and follow her aspirations. At first, she wasn’t focused on winning any prizes or honours; all she wanted was to bring honour to her nation. She describes herself as a committed, diligent boxer with the capacity and willingness to pursue her own goals.

Despite all the social limitations that prevented a Muslim girl from participating in sports, Nikhat Zareen battled her way to the boxing ring. Many young ladies who lack the bravery and confidence to pursue their aspirations look up to her as an inspiration. She feels that boxing has given her the confidence to defy social standards and overcome all obstacles in the way of her aspirations. In the flyweight division at both the Women’s Boxing Championships and the Youth World Championships in 2011, she won gold in the AIBA Women’s Junior and Youth World Championships in Turkey.
She also earned a silver medal at the 2014 Youth World Boxing Championships in Bulgaria. She defeated Russian fighter Paltceva Ekatarina in the 52kg weight division of the Nations Cup International boxing competition that same year, earning her a gold medal. This competition took place on January 12, 2014, in Novi Sad, Serbia. She also won the gold medal at the 16th Senior Women National Boxing Championship, which was held in Assam in 2016. In Sofia, Bulgaria, where the 2018 Strandja Memorial Cup was held, Nikhat, the junior world champion, was also successful in taking home a gold medal.

Nikhat Zareen Controversy:
When Nikhat Zareen’s tryouts for women’s boxing in the Russian World Championship were abruptly cancelled, the debate started to flare up. The young aspirant had high aspirations of competing against the seasoned Mary Kom in the trials, but she was devastated to find that she would not be eligible because she is too young.
She felt helpless and angry, so she channelled her rage into a letter to Rajesh Bhandari, the chairman of the selection committee, and Ajay Singh, the president of the Boxing Federation, accusing them of employing “unfair procedures” to favour a “certain boxer.”
The 36-year-old Mary Kom and the 23-year-old Nikhat Zareen developed a cold war over this dispute. According to recent sources, Mary Kom, who is unquestionably her idol, has been fighting hard in Nikhat’s head. Nikhat Zareen made headlines once more for the incorrect reasons when she insulted Mary Kom, who was incensed upon hearing the same.
Dislocated Shoulder of Nikhat Zareen:
Any athlete’s biggest issue is a sports injury. Nikhat Zareen, whose career, biography has been pretty interesting to follow, received the shock of her life when she dislocated her right shoulder at the All-India Inter-University Championships and was told that surgery was necessary. Surgery may make or destroy a career for any athlete. Additionally, a boxer’s shoulder injury is more dangerous because it is where all of their strength originates.
Rehabilitation is a significant effort even after the operation. It takes courage to accept reality and make the decision to go on. Nikhat underwent shoulder surgery while she was only twenty years old. She was inactive for a whole year. She found it incredibly distressing to hear everyone criticising her for never being able to play. But she had an excellent attitude for her age and recovered more quickly from the difficult time. Of course, she is now even more radiant! By taking home the gold at the 2019 Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament, Nikhat accomplished a truly magnificent comeback.
