A special ‘pajama’ will now be able to monitor your health while sleeping at night. Recently, researchers have created a fabric whose wearing pajamas will keep your heart beat and respiratory system under control while sleeping. Researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the United States said that with this cloth, such nightwear can be made, which will prove useful for your health in sleep. Material chemist professor Trisha L’Andrew said, “The biggest challenge for us was how to get useful hints from it while maintaining the beauty of the fabric.”
Andrew said, ‘Typically, people think that’ smart textile ‘refers to tight clothing that has various sensors to measure physical signals, but such clothes cannot be worn for everyday work, especially at night. at bedtime.’ At the same time, computer scientist Deepak Ganesan said, “We believed that even though the night clothes should be worn loosely, but due to the way of sleeping, the cloth still touches parts of our body.”
Ganesan said that these contacts are established by sleeping on the stomach or pressing the hand under the head. At such times, the pressure on the clothes can be monitored by the heartbeat and respiratory system, which can also be used to extract physiologic variables (physiologically affecting parameters). Because of the term ‘physiological’, this pajama has been named ‘Physama’ by the researchers.
Ganesan’s colleagues said that his team had to consider a number of things to make this fantasy a reality. His team has created such a fabric based pressure sensor, which becomes active only after exposure to the body. Researchers said that the current generation likes ‘smartwatches’ for this kind of work, but often elderly people forget to wear it, while no one forgets to wear night clothes. The research was published in ‘The Proceedings of the ACM on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable and Ubiquits Technologies’.
