Princes Latifa Al Maktoum, the daughter of the ruler of Dubai, tried to flee the country in 2018 and was later caught.
She then sent a video message to her friends in which she is accusing her father of holding her ‘hostage’ and saying that her life is in danger.
This video footage of Princess Latifah has been found on BBC Panorama, in which she is saying that she was caught by the commandos while running away from the boat and they have taken her to the detention center.
His intelligence messages have stopped coming in and friends have appealed to the United Nations to intervene in it.
Dubai and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have previously said that the princesses are safe under the care of the Latifa family.
Former UN human rights envoy Mary Robinson called her a ‘troubled young woman’ after she met Latifah in 2018, but has now said that the princess’ family has’ betrayed her badly.
Robinson, the former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and former President of Ireland, has sought to find out the current status of Latifah, seeking international action.
He says, “I am constantly worried about Latifa. Things have changed a lot and now I think it should be investigated.”
Princess Latifa’s father Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is one of the world’s richest heads of state. He is the ruler of Dubai and the vice-president of the UAE.
After capturing Latifa, he was taken to Dubai, after which he secretly made these videos for several months. She made them in her bathroom and this was the only door she could close.
In video messages, she is saying something like this:
He was manhandled by security forces before he was pulled from the boat. He ‘kicked and fought’ an Emirati jawan and bitten until he screamed Princess Latifa.
She lost her senses after being tranquilized (electric shock from the machine), after which she was brought to Dubai by private plane.
He was kept alone in a house without any health or legal aid, whose doors and windows were closed and the police was guarded.
Panorama is told by his friend Tina Johannaen, my brother Marcus Esabari and campaigner David Haye about Latifa’s capture and detention. All these people are also running free latifa campaigns.
They say that they are making a difficult decision to make their message public, given Princess Latifa safety.
These are the same people who had established contact with Latifah while staying in a Dubai home .
