Special Oxygen Express trains of Railways have transported about 2,067 tonnes of medical oxygen to various parts of the country in the last 16 days. Maximum 707 tonnes of oxygen was delivered to Delhi and then 641 tonnes of oxygen to Uttar Pradesh. Currently, trains are running with 344 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen.
A Railway Ministry statement said that so far Indian Railways transported about 2,067 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen to 137 tankers through 34 Oxygen trains in various states across the country. Apart from Delhi and UP, 174 tonnes were given to Maharashtra, 190 tonnes to Madhya Pradesh, 229 to Haryana, and 123 tonnes to Telangana.
The first Oxygen Express was run on April 19 when seven tankers were loaded and sent from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai. These seven tanks were loaded onto flat wagons and transported to the destination. The tankers of each Oxygen Express train transported about 16 tonnes of medical oxygen. These trains run at a speed of around 65 kmph.

Meanwhile, Chief Scientific Advisor to the Central Government, Vijay Raghavan has said that there will also be a third wave of Corona in the country, but it is not known when it will come. He said that we have to be ready for this. He also said that the second wave of Corona would be so fierce and long, it was not anticipated.
