Royal Challengers Bangalore comprehensively beat Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, in the 48th match of the VIVO Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL)
RCB was successful because of a fantastic bowling performance which derailed Punjab’s batting innings. Royal Challengers finished off Punjab for a mere 89 runs. Later skipper Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel smashed the ball here there everywhere as they wreaked havoc with the Punjab bowlers.
After this defeat, Punjab has now slipped to the 5th position on the VIVO IPL points table.
It was Royal Challengers Bangalore who won the toss and put Punjab to bat first. Punjab was looking good in the beginning just when its innings crashed as 3 wickets including Chris Gayle and Lokesh Rahul was cleaned out by the RCB bowlers in quick succession.
None of the other Punjab batsmen were able to make a mark on the dented innings and all stayed for brief intervals before getting out and leading to the Kings debacle.
Umesh Yadav bowled exceptionally well and stopped the runs from flowing freely.
Finch was the last hope for Punjab but perished soon as the Punjab innings collapsed for 88 runs. Only three of the Punjab batsmen were able to touch the double figures as there was a complete washout of Punjab’s batting by RCB.
Later while chasing a mini total of 89 runs to win skipper Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel began cautiously and once they were set they smashed boundaries and brought the run rate to more than 12 an over.
It was a one-sided affair as the Punjab bowlers had nothing to defend and the match reached to its conclusion soon as Royal Challengers Bangalore crushed the Kings XI Punjab comprehensively and registered a win
