A few residents of Udaypur village, the Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi district, and like many others in the village as well as the ones that are nearby There is only one requirement – getting vaccinations.

However, they claim that traveling far distances and waiting hours in lines is a challenge for them to receive the vaccine. They also claim discrimination based on caste at the vaccination centers.
“Whoever has money, like the Thakurs and others, they come in their cars and get vaccinated while we are asked to stand in queues,” they say.
The same tale was repeated by other villagers we spoke with in the villages around Danganj, Mahada, and Mangolepur.
