It was the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League 2018 when Sunrisers Hyderabad badly defeated Delhi Daredevils by 9 wickets at the Firoz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi.
This defeat has ended Delhi Daredevils chances for the playoffs while Sunrisers retained their top spot on the VIVO IPL 2018 points table
Rishab Pant was in full form and played a magnificent innings blasting the Sunrisers bowlers here there everywhere and helped Delhi Daredevils reach a competitive score of 187 runs. Then while batting it was Hyderabad’s chance to reply
Hyderabad are known to defend low totals but this time the challenge was different, they had to chase a significantly high total of 187 runs in their 20 overs, but they pulled it off in fine fashion
Delhi Daredevils won the toss and decided to bat first against SRH. Rishab Pant was the star of the match for Delhi who played a magnificent knock and blasted a spectacular 128 runs. Pant attacked all the bowlers and no bowler could control or tame Pant. He was in fine form and it was showing.
Pant made a mark for himself as the entire stadium was seen chanting his name and it was a sheer spectacle.
Shakib Al Hasan dismissed Delhi openers Prithvi Shaw and Jason Roy of consecutive deliveries to put the daredevils on the back foot. There was a misunderstanding between Pant and Shreyas Iyer and that led to his getting run out.
Rishab Pant no doubt played magnificent innings but he gave a hard time to his teammates as they got out one by one through a misunderstanding with Pant between the wickets. Another run out occurred and Harshalpatel was back to the pavilion.
Pant felt guilty and took out his anger and wrath on the SRH bowlers.
While batting Hyderabad got an early blow as Harshal Patel removed Alex Hales. And then it was Hyderabad’s show.
Dhawan was in his element and blasted some powerful boundaries. Then Dhawan and Williamson were uncontrollable and unperturbed by any Delhi bowler.
Both of them hit 50’s and raised their bats in celebration. The lackluster bowling performance by Delhi cost them the match.
