All across the country, students are furious about the news that the CBSE has ordered the re-examination of the Class XII economics and Class X math papers, following reports of both the papers leaked before the exams
All across India, from Bengaluru, Goa, Guwahati, Chennai and Kolkata to Bhopal and Patna, among others, students are angry and upset that they will have to give the exams once again although the leak was limited to the Delhi region.
The board had taken cognizance of “certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations”. It decided to re-conduct Class X Math and Class XII Economics papers to “uphold sanctity of the board and in the interest of fairness to the students.” Said the board’s statement on Wednesday
The exam notice said that “Dates for fresh examinations and other details shall be hosted on the CBSE website within a week”.
CBSE chief Anita Karwal said that the board had taken the decision in favor of the students.
Karwal was quoted as saying “We have taken decision in favor of the students. We are working for their good. Dates for re-examination will be announced soon,” by news agency ANI.
What exactly is making students all the more upset is that the exam was relatively easy.
One student who was upset at going through that level of stress again, he said,“I am disheartened at having to prepare afresh and sit for the exam when it had gone really well as it was an easy paper,”.
With protests from all over India, students are furious and don’t want a re-examination, but the CBSE also has its hands tied. As the papers were leaked, re-examination is the only option left with them. All that one can say is that it might help if the papers are set on the easier side.
