Covid Vaccination Campaign
The Prime Minister said that India is applying Corona vaccine to people at a record speed faster than other countries in the world and this campaign will be continued even faster.
The first phase of the Kovid vaccination campaign in India started on 16 January this year, in which vaccines were initially given to health workers and front line workers.
The second phase of vaccination began on March 1, 2021, in which vaccines were provided for people above 45 years of age corona vaccine .
In order to increase the availability of the Korana vaccine, the government approved two vaccines of Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute of India, and after this the foreign-made Sputnik vaccine was also approved for emergency use. Sputnik can now be manufactured in India.
In the third phase, under the National Vaccine Policy, there has been talk about the price of the vaccine and the relaxation to increase its scope.
The third phase of corona vaccination in India will formally begin from May 1.
Major Guidelines for Phase III
Vaccine-producing pharmaceutical companies will provide half of their total production to the Government of India and the remaining half will be free to supply to state governments or the open market.
The companies making the vaccine will make public the price of 50 percent quota placed for supply to the open market and state governments before May 1. On the basis of this price, the state governments, private hospitals, industrial establishments, etc., will be able to decide the purchase of the vaccine from the pharmaceutical companies. Private hospitals will have to make their purchases through this 50 percent quota. Private hospitals have to provide the cost of the vaccine in a transparent manner. All adults above the age of 18 years will be able to get the vaccine through this channel.
As before, free vaccines will be given to health workers, front line workers and all those above 45 years of age at the vaccine centers of the Government of India.
Whether the vaccine is being administered through the Government of India or any other medium, the campaign will be a part of the National Vaccination Program and all people will have to use the pre-defined protocol and platform of the Covin app.
However, it has not been clear yet that those who are more than 45 years of age, who had taken the vaccine from private hospitals or institutions by paying a price of Rs 250 fixed by the government, will have to pay for their second dose. Because according to the new policy effective from May 1, private hospitals will have the right to decide the price of the vaccine themselves.
