At a prestigious event on Monday April 28th of 2022 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar received India’s third-highest civilian honor Padma Bhushan. The President of India Droupadi Murmu honored the renowned award to Ajith Kumar for his meaningful impact on Indian cinema. The federal government revealed his PADMA BHUSHAN selection in January among 19 distinguished individuals selected for the year.

Ajith Kumar received the Padma Bhushan from President Droupadi Murmu
Indian cinema has recognized Ajith Kumar as one of its premier figures because his filmography extends through three decades with more than sixty films. The beginning of his film career started when he appeared in a single scene of En Veedu En Kanavar in 1990. The actor made his cinematic lead debut in Amaravathi which was the first film to showcase his talent in 1993. Ajith first won recognition through romantic roles but he gracefully evolved into an action hero during the beginning of the new millennium. The transformation in Ajith’s film career happened when Amarkalam and Dheena and Citizen established his position as both versatile and commercially viable actor.
His success in the Tamil film industry reached new heights through three critically successful hits including Varalaaru and Billa together with Mankatha. Through these films viewers witnessed top-level acting from Ajith as he displayed his dominant presence onscreen. Besides achieving commercial success the Tamil film industry has honored Ajith with the Kalaimamani award as well as three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards to appreciate his creative work. Apart from Ajith Kumar many distinguished names from the Indian film sector received recognition through the Padma Bhushan ceremony. The Padma Bhushan honor was presented to Shekhar Kapur and Nandamuri Balakrishna and veteran actor-politician along with renowned filmmaker and celebrated actor Ajith Kumar. The Padma Bhushan ceremony identified Anant Nag and Shobana Chandrakumar among the actors as well as music composer Ricky Kej who earned the Padma Shri recognition.
Fellow Awardees from the Film Fraternity
The ceremony contained profound sections which honored individuals after their deaths. Recently departed literary master M.T.Vasudevan Nair received the Padma Vibhushan by national honours just after his death at age 91. The belated recognition of Padma Bhushan went to Pankaj Udhas following his death because his legacy had proven to be enduring.

Ajith Kumar joins other distinguished recipients in receiving national appreciation for their notable achievements in society and their chosen areas of expertise.
