Who is Sentry in Marvel Comics?

Sentry, whose real name is Bob Reynolds, first appeared in Marvel Comics in Sentry #1 (2000). He was created as Marvel’s answer to Superman but with a darker twist. Bob, an ordinary man, gains immense power after discovering a special serum that grants him “the power of one million exploding suns.” However, his greatest enemy is the Void—an evil entity that is actually a manifestation of Sentry’s darker side, created due to his dissociative identity disorder. Sentry’s struggle to balance his heroism with his destructive alter-ego makes him one of the most complex and unpredictable characters in Marvel Comics.

Sentry’s Role in Thunderbolts*

In Thunderbolts*, Sentry is seen as a mysterious figure held captive by the government, hinting that his backstory of forgotten heroism might be adapted for the MCU. Whether Sentry will emerge as a hero or villain in the film is yet to be seen. His immense power could position him as a formidable antagonist that challenges the Thunderbolts far beyond their capabilities, adding a compelling layer of conflict to the movie.
