World No. 1 archer Deepika Kumari The 27-year-old from Ranchi, opened India’s campaign at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. She scored 663 points in shoot 72 arrows at a target 70 metres away in 12 ends. She got 9th position in the Ranking Round. She will face Bhutan’s Karma in the next round.
Indian men’s archers — Pravin Jadhav, Tarundeep Rai and Atanu Das started in the men’s individual ranking round after women’s archer Deepika Kumari finished. Tarundeep Rai scored 323 while Atanu and Pravin scored 329 points.
The round was won by the South Korean Archers, An San – 680, Jang Minhee – 677, Chaeyoung Kang- 675 as they took the first three spots.
