UP Muharram Guideline has been issued on Sunday regarding Muharram in Uttar Pradesh. Due to corona infection, procession and Tazia will not be allowed in the state on August 19 this year during Muharram. DGP Mukul Goyal has issued detailed instructions regarding the security arrangements for Muharram. At the same time, there is resentment in the Shia community about the language of a part of this circular. However, the police government has made it clear that there is nothing strange in the circular and it is an internal order.

DGP Mukul Goyal has also instructed the police officers to interact with religious leaders, peace committee officials, and elite citizens and inform them about the directions of the Supreme Court and the government regarding religious events in view of Kovid-19. The DGP has said that anti-social and communal elements should be kept a close watch and there should be no disturbance. In places where any dispute has come to the fore, the gazetted officers of police and revenue should take stock of the situation and get the dispute resolved. DGP Mukul Goel has directed that additional security arrangements should be made at sensitive places.
On the other hand, senior Shia religious leader Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi says that the language of the DGP’s circular is objectionable. If the language is not changed, then the Muharram committees will not participate in the police preparedness meeting, the guideline has hurt the religious sentiments of the Shia community. He has demanded to change the draft of the guideline. ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar says that this is an internal order, which has been issued in the earlier years also. Similar instructions are issued on kanwar yatra 2021 and on other occasions also. Nothing objectionable has been said for any particular class.
Let us inform that the situation of corona infection in Uttar Pradesh is continuously being controlled. At present, 10 districts of the state are free from corona infection. There are no active cases among them. In such a situation, the state government does not want to take any risk. Recently, Kanvad Yatra was also banned. During the last 24 hours, 2,48,152 tests were conducted in the state to check for corona infection, in which 36 new patients of Kovid were found. During this period, 76 patients also became healthy, due to which the number of active cases of Kovid in the state has come down to 664. The daily positivity rate of corona infection in the state has come down to 0.01 percent while the positivity rate has gone up to 98.6 percent.
