Yash Chopra’s Veer-Zaara, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, has surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark at the global box office, further cementing its status as one of Indian cinema’s most beloved films. Released on November 12, 2004, the film originally grossed Rs 98 crore globally, with Rs 61 crore earned domestically and Rs 37 crore from international markets.
Thanks to various re-releases between 2005 and 2024, the film added another Rs 2.50 crore, including Rs 30 lakh from a February 2023 re-release. The film’s most recent re-release in September 2024 garnered Rs 1.45 crore in just five days, bringing its total box office earnings to Rs 102.25 crore.
With the resurgence of interest in iconic films, Veer-Zaara continues to strike a chord with audiences. As National Cinema Day approaches, with ticket prices at Rs 99, the film is expected to remain in theaters for another week, attracting both nostalgic viewers and new fans. The success of re-releases like Veer-Zaara reflects a growing trend in Indian cinema, where older films are enjoying a renewed spotlight.
