On Thursday, January 12, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets in the second One-Day International.

The victory enabled India to capture the three-match series and increase their lead to 2-0 after winning the first ODI as well.

KL Rahul scored an unbroken innings of 64 runs off 103 balls as the hosts reached 219 for six in 43.2 overs while chasing a goal of 216 runs.

Vice-captain Hardik Pandya scored 36, which was the second-highest score for India. The most effective bowlers for the hosts were Mohammed Siraj (3/30) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/51).

For India's bowling unit, Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav were in excellent form, both taking three wickets.

Lahiru Kumara and Chamika Karunaratne both claimed two wickets for Sri Lanka during this time. Nuwanidu Fernando's fifty helped Sri Lanka score 215 in 39.4 overs at the outset.
